January 8, 2001 Meeting Minutes

TREASURER'S REPORT
  As of 1/8/01, there was $10,386.97 in the checking account and $1,000 in a certificate of deposit.  A number of bills for tournaments and the like were presented for payment.  10 assessment payments had been received. 
10 sets of the 40 AA PIAA tickets have been sold.  We have 30 sets left to sell.  We also have AAA seats available for sale. 
Anyone interested in buying seats, contact Tom Kessinger. 
Letters will be going out to those parents who have not yet paid their assessments. 

JUNIOR HIGH
Mick Herbert and Sue Nellis will try to get more match/tournament
results submitted for publication on our web site.

NA 2001: A Wrestling Odyssey-Junior High Tournament

 Cafeteria-Head by Mary Polley.  Anyone wishing to volunteer 
should contact Mary (724-935-2153).  She needs lots of helpers.
 Volunteer Sheet-Sign up sheet was passed around and Sue Nellis will solicit more volunteers at Wednesday's Wrestler Appreciation night.  Please sign up for at least one duty.  You can call Sue Nellis to volunteer also @ 412-369-9773.
 Mats and scales-Tom Englert is coordinating the mats and scales (helpers can call 412-366-2807).  Dennis Waltko will get the clocks and other equipment (anklets, etc.) 
 Sponsorships-Vicky Risacher (724-934-3112) will solicit major sponsorships from Wright Pontiac.  Anyone with a contact at Baierl is asked to call Vicky.  Baierl has purchased a sponsorship for many past years.  Edmonda Fives (412-367-3113) is selling minor sponsorships (weight classes).  They are $25/weight class.  Sue Nellis and Mick Herbert will also be helping out at the Junior High Level. 
 Program Book-Tom Kessinger and Karen Wald will be responsible for organizing the program.
 Security-John Risacher will head security for one session.  We need another parent to volunteer for the other session.  Call Sue Nellis and volunteer.  Varsity wrestlers will also be in attendance to provide security.
 Trophies/Awards-Keith Nellis will handle the trophies.  Karen Wald will prepare the certificates for 5th, 6th places. 
 Admission-The admission will be $3.00 on Friday night and $4.00 for all day Saturday.  Program books will be $2.00.

JUNIOR TIGER WRESTLING

Wrestler Appreciation night is Wednesday, January 10.  Edmonda Fives is chairing this event.  T-shirts will be provided to graduating wrestlers. 
Dennis Waltko informed the NAWA that he had been approached to take over the Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Association Tournament, generally held in the spring in Brooke, West Virginia.  He has asked that the NAWA help by providing volunteers to help out.  In return there would be some sharing of profits.  NAWA has agreed to ask its members to volunteer, but not chair committees at this point. 

SCHEDULES/TOURNAMENTS
The varsity team match at Connellsville is reschedule for Saturday, January 20 at noon.  The varsity will also have a match later that night, 7:00 at home against Chartiers Valley.  Junior Varsity has a tournament coming up at Mt. Lebanon on January 20th.  The Junior High Black team has a tournament in Sharon on the 13th, and at Southside Beaver on the 19th and 20th.  The Junior High Gold team has a tournament at Shaler on the 19th and 20th.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

 Communications-We will attempt to get the expense of sending out the minutes decreased.  Karen Wald will get the copies made at no cost.  We will continue to have mailing expenses.  Anyone who is a regular e-mail reader and would rather have his or her minutes sent that way can contact Alison Territ. 
 Banquet-Clare Guzzetti is in need of volunteers for this event.

 Senior Night-Vicky Risacher is in need of about 10 pictures of your senior varsity wrestler.  The cheerleaders are making Spirit posters.  Kelly Herbert is getting the cake.
 Unified Booster-No meeting.  Mr. Bozzuto did meet with Presidents of a number of Booster organizations to bring them up to date on the changes in the buildings and grounds at the NASH site.
 Nutrition -Coach Kyriazis through Mr. Bozzuto has ordered GU.
 Refreshment Stand-The stand will be operated on January 10 (Wrestler Appreciation night) and January 24th, Senior Night.  It has been suggested that the Varsity parents man the stand while J.V. wrestles and J.V. parents man the stand while the Varsity team wrestles.

NEW BUSINESS
 -Shirts to sell to the public have been ordered and should be arriving soon.
 -Up-dated telephone rosters can be obtained by calling
 Alison Territ (724-443-1567).


Funds are available courtesy of the Gus DeAugustino Golf Outing
for Clinic scholarships.  Anyone signing up for a qualifying clinic
(Waller, PWC, etc.) will qualify for a full reimbursement
for those sessions actually attended.
This is on a first come first serve basis.
When the funds run out, the reimbursements end.
Submit copies of applications and cancelled checks to Tom and Kim Englert.
